Administrative / biographical background:

Mr. Bell d. 1963 was parish clerk, assistant overseer and rate collector for Timperley and Baguley for many years. Most of the historical notes listed below, belonged to Lt.Col. C.E. Newton, a civil engineer, whose father, John Newton, owned Timperley Park. They both played an active part in local affairs, C.E. Newton being overseer of Timperley for many years
